SUMMARY:Lyme Community Coordinators Council Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Lyme Community Coordinators Meeting \nTues 11/12 5:30pm at the CommunityCare of Lyme Living Room\nIt’s time for our second annual gathering of the Lyme Community Coordinators Council* – representatives of organizations and programs with events and activities for Lyme Community. The aim is to share what we’re all trying to do\, see where we might help each other out\, and maybe find something(s) we can do together better than we can as individual organizations. \n*Is it a “council”\, a “clearinghouse”\, a “collaborative”\, an “occasional gathering”? Maybe we’ll decide … or maybe we’ll just get down to doing our best to coordinate our work in the community together! \nWe invite you to join us on Tuesday\, November 12th\, at 6:30pm at the CCL Living Room.  \nOur agenda will include: \n\n\n*Quick* “round robin” sharing of the current priorities of each organization.\nListing of scheduled events through the holidays\, for the online Lyme Events Calendar and the annual Holiday Events listing CCL will send out before Thanksgiving.\nA first draft of a “Lyme Master Calendar” for 2020\, including the recurring annual events to facilitate scheduling of other special events throughout the year. \n\nWe’ll have light refreshments. \nPlease let Patty Jenks know (email communitycarelyme@gmail.com or call 603-795-0603) \n\nCan you be with us (Yes\, No\, or Maybe)? If you cannot attend\, will you please invite someone else from your organization join us?\nDo you have a regularly scheduled event that should be on the Master Calendar calendar for 2020? (As an example\, Green Up Day (with Lyme’s Day of Service) is the first Saturday in May.) \nDo you have any other suggestions for our gathering?\n\n\nPlease share this event with anyone else you think join.

SUMMARY:Meeting of Thetford's Nonfiction Book Group
DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of Thetford’s informal nonfiction book discussion group will take place at Latham Library on Thetford Hill on Tuesday JULY 23rd at 7 pm.\n\nWe will be discussing Galileo’s Middle Finger by Alice Dreger.\n\nAn impassioned defense of intellectual freedom and a clarion call to intellectual responsibility\, this is one American’s eye-opening story of life in the trenches of scientific controversy.   For two decades\, historian Alice Dreger has led a life of extraordinary engagement\, combining activist service to victims of unethical medical research with defense of scientists whose work has outraged identity politics activists.  With spirit and wit\, she offers an unforgettable vision of the importance of rigorous truth seeking in today’s America\, where both the free press and free scholarly inquiry struggle under economic and political threats.\n\n  \nThe book may be obtained from your local library\, via interlibrary loan\,  possibly as an audio or e-book via ListenUp Vermont or in New Hampshire\,  New Hampshire Downloadable Books. Users need only get a barcode number from their local library to use the services.  Or you can obtain the book from your favorite local bookseller\, or via www.bookfinder.com\, the aggregator site for booksellers both large and small from all over the world\, and for books both new and secondhand.\n\n\nAll are welcome and we look forward to seeing you.

SUMMARY:Those Guys Independence Day Breakfast at LCC
DESCRIPTION:Start your 4th of July with a bang. Come to the Those Guys breakfast at the Congregational Church from 8:00 to 10:00. The usual monthly Wednesday morning breakfast of Those Guys has been moved to Thursday to celebrate the holiday with Lyme\, our family and friends. Bill Murphy will be at the grill to make pancakes the way you like them; sure\, there will be plain and blueberry\, but also chocolate\, M&M\, banana\, apple\, and silver dollars. In addition\, there will be fruit\, coffee\, juice\, and sides. We do the cooking and clean up\, and you provide the appetite and friendly conversation. \n“Those Guys” is an informal group of men who gather monthly for breakfast\, fellowship\, and building community relationships. As volunteers\, we seek to provide help\, assistance and support to the citizens of Lyme and beyond. \nAll are welcome! \nIf you’d like to be added to Those Guys email list\, to be notified of events and opportunities to help neighbors\, email Jim Mason (mason.james.e@gmail.com).
