DESCRIPTION:Lyme Christmas Pageant\n\nThe pageant will be presented Saturday\, December 14th at 7:30pm and Sunday\, December 15th at 4:30pm. \nThere is a dress rehearsal on Friday\, December 13th at 7pm. \nThe Lyme Christmas Pageant has been an annual tradition since 1948\, when young mothers from the Utility Club decided to put together a program that would be an alternative to the over-commercialization of Christmas.  Seventy-one years later we are probably still dealing with the same issues (as well as a few new ones…)\, and we are still celebrating the birth of Jesus by gathering as a community to sing\, dance\, act\, and reflect upon those events so many centuries ago.  We hope that you will become a part of this year’s celebration. \n\n\nThere is no admission charge for the Pageant\, but donations are accepted at the door to help offset the expenses.  Flash photography is not allowed during the two performances\, but you are welcome to take photos at the 7pm dress rehearsal on Friday December 13th.  If you are comfortable walking in wintery conditions\, we ask that you consider off-street parking farther away from the church building in order to leave the closer spaces for those who may have mobility issues.\n\nFor more information\, please contact Abbe Murphy (603-795-2287).\n\nThank you!  -Abbe Murphy\, for the Christmas Pageant committee

DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Lyme Library invite everyone to our Holiday Used Book Sale on Saturday\, December 14\, 9am until noon downstairs at the Converse Free Library. \nThere will be a large donated collection of adult novels\, mysteries\, histories\, biographies and memoirs\, philosophies\, cookbooks\, sports books\, coffee table books\, books by local authors\, some rare books\, and many more.  We also have a nice selection of audio books on CD. \nA separate room will be set up for children’s books – everything from infant books to picture books to chapter books. The room will be equipped with comfortable chairs for settling in and reading. \nThank you to all who have donated gently used books! Judy or Margaret check out all the donated books to determine which books would enhance the Library’s collection and which books are of special value. The Friends volunteers have a great time sorting the books by type and readying them for the twice-yearly large sales and the continuous sale in the side entry. All proceeds from the sales benefit our wonderful Converse Free Library. We welcome any suggestions and helpers. \nSee you at the book and cookie sales!

DESCRIPTION:View neighbors’ personal creche scenes and learn their stories\n\nDo you have a nativity set with a story that you’d like to share?  Perhaps it’s been in your family for generations\, received as a special gift\, handcrafted by a friend\, brought home from an exotic locale or just a favorite part of you holiday tradition.  Many others would love to hear you story!  If you’d be willing to display your creche in the annual Night of the Nativities at the Lyme Congregational Church on December 7\, we ask that you bring it to the church Saturday between noon and 4pm\, with a description on a card to be displayed alongside.  It will be watchfully attended until the end of viewing\, at 7pm.  We hope you can retrieve it by 7:30\, if you can’t\, you’ll find it in one of the rear pews the next afternoon.\n\nMany people have found a walk among various artists’ renditions of the birth of Christ to be a moving\, rewarding part of their Christmas season.  Peaceful holiday music and the warmly decorated sanctuary lend to a  gently spiritual experience no always to be found in this busy season.  Not coincidentally\, the Night of the Nativities is held on the same evening as the Utility Club’s light the trees on the Lyme Common and holiday market in the LCC’s Fellowship Hall.  We would very much like to add your nativity to the display\, and you to the audience.\n\nContact: Tom Turkington: tomturkington18@gmail.com
