SUMMARY:Heartburn & Heartache - Main Street Museum
DESCRIPTION:Won’t you be our Valentine? \nThis Wednesday\,  February 14th at 6:30pm\, at the Main Street Museum (58\nBridge St. WRJ\, VT) come have some gumbo and vote for the best Gumbo chef!\nIs it Bryan Luikart\, Mark Bradley or Greg LeBlanc? \nAnd stick around for the heartbreaking music of the Hokey Pokey’s &\nRestless Breakfast. \n$10 obo at the door.\nAll ages.\nThere will be cupcakes. \nhttps://facebook.com/events/s/heartburn-heartache-gumbo-the-/1511799069551838/ \nA note on pricing at the MSM: \nWhat do we mean by OBO? \nYou may see events listed as $10. OBO \nThis means ‘Or Best Offer’ \nWe never want to turn someone away for inability to pay. Art should be\naccessible. Yet at the same time\, artists and bills need to be paid. We try\nto strike a balance. When we have an event with expenses we list it as OBO.\nPlease plan according to your budget. We take Venmo\, PayPal & cash at the\nMuseum for donations. We welcome volunteers in lieu of payment as well. \nOn the occasion that the MUSEUM is rented for an event that is open to the\npublic. Fees are set by the person/organization renting. We have little to\nsay about how much they choose to charge. However\, we hope they will share\nour feelings about accessible art. \nSpecific events may be underwritten fully or in-part by local businesses\n(Like WRJ PRIDE & Gory Daze. Most recently\, Vermont Humanities helped us\nbring both Artis Wodehouse and Joe Citro to the Museum). \nPlease note that donations and rentals are how we support ourselves. We are\nnot supported by big grants or the town or state funding. This is truly a\ncommunity museum and venue. There is no staff. We are all volunteers. \nThe Museum relies upon your kindness.\nFOR MORE INFO VISIT\nwww.mainstreetmuseum.org \n  \n(Event info from a Listserv post to UV Events on 2/13/24)

SUMMARY:CANCELED - Igloo Build 2024
DESCRIPTION:Upon the advice of our igloo expert\, Dr. Norbert Yankielun\, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Igloo Build this year. The snow on the ground looks ideal\, but the freeze/thaw cycles we’ve experienced mean that the snow is unsafe to cut and stack into igloos.\n\nBut wait! If you still want a snow-based experience\, come to the Montshire for Snow Sculptures! We will have large blocks of snow ready for you to carve into animals\, cars\, mushrooms\, buildings\, or whatever you can imagine. We will have some tools available\, but you are also invited to bring your own tools like trowels and buckets.\n

SUMMARY:Spiral of Light on Thetford Green
DESCRIPTION:An Advent ritual on the Thetford Town Green\nFirst Congregational Church of Thetford on Thetford Hill warmly invites you into a time of meditative prayer on the Green. The Spiral of Light is an Advent ritual that began in the Waldorf educational community to honor the presence of everlasting light in a dark world. With an unlit candle and in intentional silence participants walk through a spiral of evergreens toward a shimmering candle at the center. Pausing at the center\, they light their candle. Exiting\, they place their new light along the spiral. Come and remember the eternal light of peace in a broken yet hopeful world. Candles provided. \nDIRECTIONS for Walking the Spiral\nWalk the spiral of light alone or with your family and friends. Enter with an unlit candle provided at the entrance of the spiral. Meditatively walk toward the center. \nLight your candle from the eternal light at the center. Upon your exit\, place your lit candle anywhere along the spiral. Stay for as long as you wish.
