Please share this announcement with those who may be interested. \n  \nFor: Aging in Community Quarterly Forum Participants (anyone interested in supporting aging in our communities.) \nFor: UV Strong Committee on Maintaining Older Adult Health \nFor: Town Welfare and Service Officers \nALL ARE WELCOME \n  \nLearning Objectives: \n\nCommon understanding of dementia\, its impact on individuals\, caregivers\, and their community.\nShare things you have learned over the past 8 months and talk with peers about how we can better serve these vulnerable members of our communities.\nIdentify strategies and resources in our communities to better serve these vulnerable members of our communities.\n\n  \nAccessing Dementia Friendly Communities Through Understanding\, with Melissa Grenier\, LCSW\, CDP\, Regional Manager\, State of NH\, Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter \nThis presentation will provide an overview of the communication\, behavioral\, and physical changes that occur over the course of a person’s journey with memory loss.  A better understanding of the evolving needs of a people with memory loss will allow us to discuss and strategize how to adapt our communities to meet those needs. Dementia Friendly communities allow people with memory loss to thrive and remain as independent as possible for as long as possible. The presentation will also highlight the impact of the pandemic on caregivers and ways that communities can provide support. Melissa and Alice Ely will engage participants in a discussion of how our volunteer-based groups and supporting organizations can help build more dementia-friendly communities and support caregivers throughout the Upper Valley. \n  \nMelissa Grenier\, LCSW\, graduated with her Bachelors of Social Work degree from Western New England College in Springfield\, Massachusetts\, and later obtained her Masters of Social Work degree from Springfield College.
