SUMMARY:Housing Forum
DESCRIPTION:Housing Forum\n\n7:00pm – Town Offices Conference Room\nThe Planning Board is unanimous in wanting to maintain the characteristics of Lyme that residents find so attractive. We can all agree there is a shortage of housing in the Upper Valley. \nHow might Lyme participate in solving this regional problem? The Planning Board would like to share what we have learned and find out from you whether or how we should pursue incentivizing housing opportunities. \nThe Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission (RPC) is our regional planning commission. A recent RPC study suggests that the Upper Valley needs 5600 additional housing units by 2040\, and that Lyme’s fair share goal is 145\, at least double the growth rate of the past 15 years. \nThe Planning Board has invited the RPC to a public meeting to discuss the housing shortage and allocations that they have suggested on October 10th at 7pm. \nPlease come and learn with us so we can work together to address the housing issue as a community. For more information (and a zoom link for the forum) visit: https://www.lymenh.gov/planning-board/events/102161 \n

SUMMARY:LGBTQ+ Advance Care Planning
DESCRIPTION:LGBTQ+ Advance Care Planning\nWhy & How to plan ahead\n\nAdvance care planning is preparing for your future healthcare and life decisions. It is the ongoing process of making your wishes and values known to your providers and caregivers. Although thinking about end-of-life may be difficult\, doing the work of Advance Care Planning before a crisis or health change occurs is a gift to yourself and your loved ones. If you do not make your preferences known\, your providers and loved ones are left to make tough decisions without knowing what you’d really want. That hole in communication could result in extended intensive treatments or more limits on your care. \nClick HERE for more information\n \nAging Resource Center\n \n\n \n \n\nLGBTQ+ Advance Care Planning PDF Hosted by ARC

SUMMARY:Contra Dance
DESCRIPTION:Contra Dance\n\nMusic by Dead Sea Squirrels\, Hannah Johlas Calling\n\nJoin us for a traditional New England contra dance at Tracy Hall in Norwich. All dances are taught\, and beginners and singles are always welcome. We offer pot-luck snacks at the break\, so please feel free to bring something to share. Our caller will offer a introductory / refresher session at 7:15 pm for newcomers or those who want to review the basics. Please bring clean non-marking shoes to help protect our dance floor! Masks are optional and welcome; vaccination strongly encouraged; please stay home if you have been exposed or are experiencing symptoms.\nHannah Johlas is a contra dance caller and organizer based in western MA. She loves introducing new dancers to the joys of contra\, as well as sharing interesting dances with good flow with more experienced crowds. Her number one priority is always that dancers have a great time!\nThe Dead Sea Squirrels play widely for contra dances and are known for their danceable tunes arranged in medleys designed to closely match and enhance the movements of the particular contra dance being taught/called. They tend to push the boundaries of the southern style with fiddle and fiddle/guitar harmonies. Since all the musicians are also dancers\, they understand the importance of the interaction between dancers and musicians\, and how to use rhythm and dynamics to augment the feel and excitement of a dance.\nDead Sea Squirrels features Cathy Mason on fiddle\, Craig Edwards on fiddle\, banjo\, and mandolin\, and Henry Yoshimura on guitar.\nSliding Scale Admission:\n$20+ Dance Supporters\n$15 General Admission\n$10 Students\nUnder 16 free \nClick HERE for more information\n \nNorwich Community Dances

SUMMARY:Virtual: Living Healthy by Eating Healthy
DESCRIPTION:Virtual: Living Healthy by Eating Healthy\nEating for Healthy Blood\n\nLeader: Jean Copeland\, RDN\, LD \nAnemia is a problem of not having enough healthy red blood cells or hemoglobin to carry oxygen to the body’s tissues. Anemia is associated with a higher incidence of cardiovascular disease\, cognitive impairment\, decreased physical performance and quality of life\, and increased risk of falls and fractures.
