Can we ever really ‘know’ ourselves? Can confusion about personal identity or failure to grapple with the questions involved cause harm? Kinsler\, Ph.D.\, ABPP is a retired clinical and forensic psychologist. He provided therapy to numerous people over a 50 year career. He was a specialist in issues of psychological trauma and a Past President of The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation\, and author of the Routledge book Complex Psychological Trauma: The Centrality of Relationship\, and numerous other professional publications. He has lectured and taught locally\, nationally\, and internationally. DESCRIPTION:Now Who Shall Judge the Indians?\nHow 500 Years of Colonization Has Impacted the Abenaki Peoples of New Hampshire and the Northeast\nwith\nAnne Jennison\nvia Zoom\n \nTUESDAY\, NOVEMBER 21\, 7 pm\n\nThe “People of the Dawnland” (Abenaki/Wabanaki) of New Hampshire and the Northeast are the first Indigenous peoples in North America to have had contact with Europeans. In this presentation\, Anne examines how European colonization of North America impacted generations of Abenaki/Wabanaki people and highlights the ways in which the Abenaki/Wabanaki peoples have acted as agents of their own change through education\, self-advocacy\, efforts to revitalize their languages and traditional arts\, and by working with archeologists\, anthropologists\, and scientists to recover and reveal more about their history and traditional knowledge.\n \nAnne Jennison is a traditional Native American storyteller and historian of European and Abenaki heritage. While Anne’s storytelling skills have been polished by more than 30 years of experience sharing Indigenous lesson stories with audiences of all kinds\, she also believes that her growth and development as a human being has been deeply influenced by internalizing the content of the Northeastern lesson stories that she tells. With master’s degrees in both Storytelling and History\, Anne brings a wealth of cultural and historical knowledge to enrich her retelling of timeless Northeast Woodlands Native American stories. Anne is listed on the New Hampshire Traditional Artists Roster as a traditional Native American storyteller & craftsperson.  \n \nAdditionally\, Anne is the current Chair of the NH Commission on Native American Affairs\, a member of the the Indigenous NH Collaborative Collective\, an affiliate faculty member for the University of New Hampshire Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) Minor\, and a co-creator of the “People of the Dawnland” interpretive exhibit about the Abenaki/Wabanaki peoples at Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth\, NH.  Anne continues to act as a consultant for the museum’s ongoing Abenaki Heritage Initiative – a plan to develop and sustain exhibits and events at Strawbery Banke Museum that focus on the history and culture of the Abenaki\, Indigenous peoples of New Hampshire and the Northeast\, both past and present.\n\n\nTHIS PROGRAM IS MADE POSSIBLE BY THE FRIENDS OF LYME LIBRARY \n\n\nRegister here

SUMMARY:Pods for the Pulpit Craft Fair in Norwich
DESCRIPTION:27th annual fair\, raising funds for the Upper Valley Haven\nNovember 24 and 25\nIn the early days of the fair\, members of the congregation made milkweed pod Christmas ornaments to sell at the fair; hence the name. Revenue comes from booth fees\, commissions and raffle tickets on a colored woodblock print donated by Lyme artist Matt Brown. \nWe try to have our crafters remain at the same level of expertise as those who have been juried into the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. Ours are professional craftspeople. With over thirty vendors\, there will be a wide variety of high-quality crafts including floorcloths\, photography\, woodblock prints\, felting\, pottery\, gourd ornaments\, elf slippers\, jewelry\, ceramics\, gemstones and pearls\, quilts\, weaving\, felt tapestry\, wood\, Ukrainian eggs\, soft sculpture\, notecards and calendars\, custom cribbage boards\, colored etchings\, wool rugs\, and acrylic paintings on board. \nThe fair is held the weekend after Thanksgiving at Tracy Hall on Main Street in Norwich\, Vermont.
