Curious why Matt Brown is so enamored of these woodblock prints of 170 years ago? Curious what he and Kim Meredith have put together at the MBFA gallery in downtown Lyme? This Sunday afternoon Zoom gathering is a discussion time aiming to be an arm-chair travel to a world very different from our own. Including a video tour of the show in the gallery, a presentation of some of the show’s print highlights, , and a conversation re-imagining the kabuki theater world of Edo Japan in the 19th century, the Zoom gathering will aim to explore the dramatic potentials of these color woodblock printed sheets shaped by the vision of this enigmatic artist, Utagawa Kunisada (1786 – 1865).
