Dances from Muskeg Music!

There’s some B. I. G. F. U. N. this Summer at the old dance hall in East Thetford

From Rick Barrows Email on the Listserv:

We’ll have LIVE MUSIC from a pair of first-rate French-Canadian musicians:

Pascal Gemme (of Genticorum) on fiddle and foot percussion
Rachel Aucoin (of the band Raz-de-Maree (Tidalwave), among others) on fiddle

All dances will be taught *and* called.

Simple easy steps that everyone can learn (turn by the hand, do-si-do (back to back) and swing!
Folks typically switch partners after each dance, so you’ll have a variety of experiences.
The dance pattern is self-correcting – even if you miss a step, it will all recover nicely.

Nils Fredland is a local caller who is sought-after nationally for festivals and weekends – we’re fortunate to have him.

If you can walk, you can dance (some callers have described Contradancing as: “walking around with a smile on your face”)

Saturday, June 8th

Wear loose, comfortable clothing – in layers, and comfortable smooth sole or low-heel shoes.
Also, bring yourself some water to drink. (there’s no plumbing, just a lovely indoor-outhouse at the Pavillion)

Walk-through for new dancers at 7:15 – come early, the first dances will be the simplest

Contradance from 7:30 – 10:30

Potluck snacks at the break

Admission: Adults $15 | 16 and under $5 | cash or check only
