Celia Chen, MS, PhD, is a Research Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Dartmouth College who teaches ecology courses (marine ecology, coral reef ecology, and ecotoxicology) and conducts research on contaminants in the environment. She is an aquatic ecologist whose research over the last 27 years has focused on the fate and effects of contaminants in aquatic freshwater and marine ecosystems. She has also worked to bring contaminant science to policy by gathering groups of scientists to produce synthesis documents, providing scientific input to federal agencies, and translating mercury science to support the implementation of the Minamata Convention, the international treaty on the control of mercury.
